Baschi (born September 6, 1986 in Gelterkinden , Canton of Basel-Landschaft ; bourgeois Sebastian Bürgin ) is a Swiss pop singer . He became known through the first season of the talent show MusicStar , which was broadcast on Swiss television between November 2003 and March 2004 . Although he had retired early in sixth place at the time, he had been signed by the Universal record company.

Career

According to his own statement, Baschi never wanted to make music and fears every appearance (also because he very often heard that his voice was not suitable for singing).

His first single Diis Lied got off to a somewhat unfortunate start in the charts: Since ex libris sold the single for 3.90 CHF - 10 cents too little to meet the criteria for inclusion in the Swiss charts - Diis Lied rose to 29th place with the other sales a. With the sold singles by ex libris , Diis Lied would have reached number 3. The following singles were much more successful. His first album Baschi , like the second Somehow Held, achieved gold status . The third album Fürs Volk achieved platinum status .

In 2006, Baschi was a participant in the documentary soap Der Match des Schweizer TV, in which eighteen prominent Swiss people completed a week-long football training camp under the guidance of a professional team of trainers. He contributed the title song to the show with Bring en hot . The song, written by Roman Camenzind , Baschi and Hank Merk, has similarities with "Three Lions" by The Lightning Seeds due to the simple refrain and describes a fan’s passion for football. The song went to number 1 on the Swiss singles chart, achieved double platinum status and sold 60,000 times.

From April 10, 2007, Swiss television broadcast the docu-soap Baschi National . It should show what it takes to live the musician's dream by capturing scenes from his private and professional everyday life. At the same time, the single Wenn das Gott wüsst was released, the text of which immediately led to violent controversy (see web link). With place 3 of Wenn das Gott wüsst in the Swiss charts  - Baschi is the only dialect artist who could land three top 3 hits. The single Fürs Volk was only published digitally and entered the Swiss singles hit parade on May 20, 2007 (highest position 18).

The album Fürs Volk entered the Swiss charts on June 3, 2007 at number 1. So far, Baschi has worked with the Swiss music producer Roman Camenzind on all three albums.

The song Bring en Hei , released on May 2nd, 2008 as a remix version, was selected as the EM song for the Swiss national team and adapted by the Austrian Mario Lang and the German Oliver Pocher . On April 18, 2008, Baschi performed with Lang at the Amadeus Austrian Music Award and interpreted a mixed version of the song with him.

On November 2, 2008, Baschi was in the show The Biggest Swiss Hits with his song Bring en Hei after the qualifying round in the category “Young & Old” in the final broadcast of the third season.

At the beginning of 2010 he entered the German charts with the song Immortal , sung in High German. The song belongs to the soundtrack of the film Zweiohrküken and runs in the credits.

On June 24, 2010, a video by Baschi appeared on the 20 Minuten online website in which he presented the song Schiri , which was written exclusively for the free newspaper . The song goes to the poor performance of the referees at the 2010 World Cup.

His first High German album Auf Große Fahrt was originally planned for June 2010. In September 2010, only one version was published in Swiss German. In December 2010 another Swiss-German album Neui Wält was released. In May 2011 the issue of Auf große Fahrt in standard German followed.

In March 2013, Baschi separated from his long-time girlfriend Katy Winter . Baschi has been running the recording studio Rebel-Inc since 2013 together with his long-time guitarist Philippe Merk . in Basel. In 2015 he released his seventh studio album Zwüsche dir und mir . In the animated film Zoomania , which was released in the cinemas in spring 2016, he lent the German voice to the Manchas chauffeur .
