The match
The match was a docu-soap produced on behalf of Swiss television that was broadcast on SF Zwei in 2006 and 2008 . Each season, 18 Swiss celebrities from different areas take part in a one-week football training camp, which was led by Gilbert Gress (head coach), Urs Schönenberger (assistant coach) and Martin Brunner (goalie coach). The final highlight was a live broadcast game between the celebrity team and a selection of former Swiss national players .
The match was produced by B&B Endemol Shine , a subsidiary of Endemol international. The original concept "The Match" comes from England, where it was initially developed by the English Endemol subsidiary and has already been produced several times.
2006
In 2006 the program aired from April 25th to June 6th.
The game against the legends took place on June 1, 2006 in the Espenmoos Stadium in St. Gallen . The celebrity team lost 1: 6. The only goalscorer on the side of the celebrity selection was National Councilor Toni Brunner . The final live game saw an average of 670,000 viewers (peak value shortly before the end of the game: 818,000), which corresponded to a market share of 36%.

2008
On the occasion of the EURO 2008 the broadcast was carried out again in 2008. The game against the legends took place on May 29th at the Allmend stadium in Lucerne and ended 1: 2 (goal scorers: Renzo Blumenthal , 47th min. 1: 0, Stéphane Chapuisat , 55th min. 1: 1, Georges Bregy , 76 . Min. 1: 2). Together with the legends, the celebrity team competed on June 5 in Altach against a selection from the Austrian program Das Match . The Austrians won the game 4-2, although the Swiss were rated better.
