Marc Sway , real name Stefan Marc Bachofen (* 25. June 1979 in Männedorf in Zurich ) is a Swiss pop-rock - musicians .

Life

Marc Sway's mother comes from Brazil , his father is Swiss, he grew up bilingual ( Swiss German / Portuguese ), so these two languages ​​are used in his music - in addition to English . He came into contact with music at an early age: his father is a rock and blues singer and played the flute and saxophone in a rock band, his mother is a dance teacher by profession. Sway was influenced by both rock music and Brazilian styles and rhythms such as samba and bossa nova .

In his youth Marc Sway sang in a gospel choir , where he could gain his first experience. When he was 16, he had the opportunity to perform with Julinho Martins and his band at the Montreux Jazz Festival . Together with his father, his music teacher Dennis Roshard and other professional musicians, he had the opportunity to gain a lot of experience with the band “Just for Fun”. Marc Sway won his first talent competition at the age of 17.

In 2002 he finally got a record deal with BMG in Munich. Sways debut album Marc's Way was released in July 2003 and stayed in the Swiss album charts for six weeks . The title song "Natural High" was played so often by German radios that it came into the top 10 of the German airplay charts. Reports and interviews in Bravo, Bild, Gala, Blick and appearances in various German, Swiss and Austrian television programs made him known. The single Ready for the Ride reached number 67 in the Swiss Top 100.

In 2006 Sway interpreted the official Swiss Olympic song for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin together with Daniel Kandlbauer , Kisha and Tanja Dankner . The song entitled We're on Fire made it into the Swiss charts in January 2006 (top position: 29). That same year he took part in the reality show The Match of the Swiss television .

In 2007 the song he composed, Hemmigslos liebe , a duet Sways sung in Swiss German with the 2007 MusicStar winner Fabienne Louves , was published and immediately reached number seven in the Swiss single charts and stayed in the top 100 for weeks.

In 2008 Sway released the single "Severina", a song he wrote for his wife for the wedding. It immediately conquered number 10 on the Swiss singles hit parade. With his second album, "One Way", followed by a double Sway, also reached the top of the Swiss charts and stayed in the top 100 for a few weeks.

In 2009 he was nominated for the best Swiss song with "Severina" at the Swiss Music Awards and played around 100 concerts within a year from summer 2008. He has been a jury member and coach in the singing casting show The Voice of Switzerland since January 2013 . In 2014 Sway contributed the song “I can see the world”, the Swiss World Cup song to the soccer world championship in his mother's home country.
