Daniel Kandlbauer (born June 16, 1983 ) from Grindelwald came second in the second season of the Swiss talent show Music Star and has been a rock musician on the Swiss music scene ever since.

biography

Apart from three years that he spent in America, Kandlbauer grew up in Grindelwald . Daniel's mother Debbie and his brother Freddie live in Interlaken. Daniel Kandlbauer graduated from the business school Thun -Schadau with commercial professional maturity and was passing frontman of the hard rock band Crossfade from Grindelwald. There he gained his first studio experience and recorded his first two albums, “Through the tunnel to the light” and “Shame?”. After his success at Music Star, Crossfade broke up and Dani's old bandmates are now playing again under the name "Nortody".

Career

In the hope of a record deal in order to be able to live from the music, Daniel Kandelbauer signed up for the second season of Music Star . He made it to the finals on February 26, 2005, which was won by Salome Clausen from Valais .

On July 23, 2005, Daniel Kandlbauer released his first single "Maybe in Heaven", which reached number three in the Swiss charts. His album "Home" followed on August 20, and it went straight to first place on the Swiss charts .

Daniel Kandlbauer started his home tour in summer 2005 together with the band "Burrell" by Reto Burrell, the producer of "Home". For the second album " inside out " Daniel was looking for musicians for his own Kandlbauer band. Together with Pele Loriano (lead guitar), Christian “Chrigu” Kyburz (drums) and Patrik “Kiss” Meyer (bass), he toured Switzerland in autumn 2006.

In addition, Daniel Kandlbauer also worked on various other music projects. He played "Children of Columbus" for the Reber rock CD, a homage to Peter Reber . Together with Marc Sway , Kisha and Tanja Dankner, he sang the official Swiss Olympic song “We are on fire” for Torino 06 and recorded the “greatest Swiss hit of all time”, “ Alperose ”, with Polo Hofer , Sina and Sandee . new on. For the ice hockey season 07/08, Daniel Kandlbauer wrote the official song for the Ice Hockey National League A “Power on Ice”, which was played when the top scorers entered the stadiums.

On January 4th, 2008 the third Kandlbauer album was released with the title "The shades of light". It's calmer and more melancholy than the previous two Kandlbauer records. The former «Burrell» band members Toby Bachmann and Cyrill Camenzind are also back. This album also features a new version of the Uriah Heep classic "Lady in Black". Ken Hensley , founding member, guitarist and keyboardist of Uriah Heep, sang this song in 1971. Despite several inquiries from various, sometimes famous artists, he only agreed to Daniel Kandlbauer's suggestion to re-record « Lady in Black » together. Hensley said that for the first time on this project, he felt that it was the music that counted, not just financial success. 37 years after the first publication of "Lady in Black", Hensley said: "If I die, he will carry the lady on!"

Daniel Kandlbauer is also active on the musical stage: from 2009 to 2011 he played the main role of "Daneli" in the Swiss musical Ewigi Liebi . He is currently playing the male lead "Nick Hurley" in the German-language premiere of the musical Flashdance at Le Théâtre Kriens-Luzern .
