Ewigi Liebi
Ewigi Liebi was the first Swiss Compilation - Musical , which the author Roman Riklin written and directed by Dominik Flaschka (Artistic Director Theater at Pike Place , Eugen (Musical) My name is Monty Python's Spamalot, East Side Story, etc.) was staged. 14 musical performers, accompanied by a five-person live band, presented 42 mouth art hits. Overall, the production employed a team of around 100 people. The songs are combined with a story of love, betrayal and misunderstanding. The musical, in which the two producers Darko Soolfrank and Guido Schilling invested around four million francs, premiered on September 13, 2007 in the MAAG Halle in Zurich . After three game seasons, the musical celebrated on November 4, 2010 in Bernits premiere. It was performed in a 1000-seat mobile theater specially built for the play. From March 2012 the musical was played again in Zurich. On June 24, 2012 the five-year season ended. For the 10th anniversary, the musical came back on stage in 2017 and celebrated its 1000th performance on December 7, 2017. By January 21, 2018, when the last curtain fell, a total of 720,000 viewers saw the show. Around 60,000 of the musical CD had been sold by the end of the performance.
history
The idea for the piece and the book come from Roman Riklin from Eastern Switzerland, who also took over the musical direction. He worked on the common thread for two years until the Swiss dialect songs were linked to history. He was supported by director Dominik Flaschka. "Ewigi Liebi" was produced by Darko Soolfrank and Guido Schilling, who already staged "Space Dream" in Baden and "Deep" and Mein Name ist Eugen (musical) in Zurich.
The Swiss bands supported the “Ewigi Liebi” project. All of the requested artists gave their consent to the use of their titles in the musical. The author and musical director of the musical, Roman Riklin, partly rearranged the songs, adapted them to the musical and added them to the story.
The musical premiered on September 13, 2007. In December 2007 the live album reached number 3 on the national album charts. This placement has never before been achieved by any musical record in Switzerland. In January 2008, a gold award followed for 15,000 CDs sold.
In April 2008 Ewigi Liebi won the Prix Walo as the most popular musical and theater production in Switzerland. In February 2009, the live album was given platinum status through over 30,000 CDs sold. In September 2009, the hit musical started its 3rd season. And after the success in Zurich, “Ewigi Liebi” moved to Bern in 2010, where most of the songs originated. The producers built a mobile theater hall on the WankdorfCity area for the musical.
In March 2012 the musical returned to Zurich and celebrated its derelict on June 24, 2012 after 906 performances. 650,000 spectators saw the musical and 60,000 records were sold. "Ewigi Liebi" is still the most successful Swiss musical to this day.
For the 10th anniversary of the play, “Ewigi Liebi” will return to the MAAG Halle stage for three months in March 2017. Author Roman Riklin and director Dominik Flaschka have come up with some innovations for the revival. There are new gags and one or two new songs without the musical being turned upside down.
action
Due to fateful circumstances, Dänu and Heidi, who were lovers in their youth, meet again almost thirty years later. Happy about the fateful encounter, they indulge in their memories and reflect on their relationship, which came to an abrupt end. Their common history began at the time when the gondola lift was inaugurated in the Emmental village of Trueb. The herdsmen and farmers organized a festival with music and dance for this big event. At this festival, the two kissed for the first time after the last polka in the moonlight. The longer they tell, the more they sink into their story, which suddenly begins to live. The marmot family, who are having a family row (the son wants to dig a tunnel into the Engadine and work as an au pair there), listens attentively and comments on the story while singing out of their holes. Intrigues and misunderstandings, false pride and youthful arrogance have torn the lovers apart.
Many years later, Dänu and Heidi would like to turn back the clock. An old, strange man ends up with a rusty gondola in the junkyard and offers Dänu the opportunity to travel back in time. There he should try to turn the unfortunate love story for the better.
