Patent Ochsner is a Swiss dialect - band from Bern .

Band history

Bernese rubbish bin "Patent Ochsner"

The band was founded in 1990 in Bern. The band name comes from an inscription on trash cans and garbage containers from J. Ochsner AG . In 1991 they made their breakthrough with their first album Schlachtplatte and the hits Scharlachrot and Bälpmoos and became known throughout Switzerland. After their third album Gmües and a tour through Madagascar, the band separated from Philippe Stalder (guitar and cello) and Martin Neuhaus (trombone) at the end of 1995.

In May 1998 the band made the music for the play The Black Spider, based on the story by Jeremias Gotthelf, at the Neumarkt Theater, directed by Volker Hesse .

After 1998 and 2001 Carlo Brenni Böbu honor Zeller, Andrew Burri and Tinu Frutiger had left the band, published Büne Huber solo album cantaloupe moon . In January 2003, after a long break with Trybguet, the newly formed band's first album followed. The tour of the same name across Switzerland was a great success. At the end of the tour to Liebi, Tod & Tüüfu (05/06), the last founding member (except for Huber), the multi-instrumentalist Pascal “pazz” Steiner, left the band after 16 years.

On August 29, 2008 the album The Rimini Flashdown was released . At the end of October 2008 the tour started through the whole of Switzerland, which ended on August 31, 2009 with a concert in the Mühli Hunziken .

style

Patent Ochsner's music is characterized by a great diversity. In addition to the usual instruments (guitar, bass, drums, vocals), mandolins , cellos , violins , saxophones , trombones , accordion and a brass band were already heard on their early albums . Many influences from Swiss folk music can be heard on the first three albums ( Schlachtplatte , Fischer and Gmües ) .

On the fourth album Stella Nera , two songs were sung in Italian for the first time. Spanish influences were noticeable in the music and lyrics on Trybguet . However, the special instrumental variety of the earlier albums is missing.
