Maja Brunner

Maja Brunner (born July 6, 1951 in Küsnacht ) is a Swiss singer of popular hits , musicals , swing , soul and gospel .

Life

Maja Brunner was born as the daughter of Ernst Brunner , the director of the Ländlerkapelle Seebuebe . At the age of eleven she learned the clarinet and saxophone . Later she was the singer of the band Tomorrow . After attending the commercial school in Zurich , Maja Brunner was a secretary for 20 years from 1969.

In 1970 she won the Glarus Schlager Festival, after which she sang with various bands. In 1974 she became the singer of the Zurich pop band Date of Birth . In 1981 she took part in the Swiss preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest as a member of the Swiss Union singing group with the song San Gottardo composed by Peter Reber . The group came in second. In 1987 she took part in the Grand Prix of Folk Music with the song Das chunnt eus spanisch vor, composed by her younger brother Carlo Brunner and written by Charles Lewinsky , and won. The CD of the same name achieved gold status. Since then she has appeared repeatedly in popular galas and television events.

In the 1990s she started a career as a musical and theater actress (including the female lead in the musical comedy Bongo, Bongo by Hans Gmür ). On May 20, 2017 she took part in the new dance show May I ask of SRF 1 .
