Peter Müller (born October 6, 1957 in Adliswil ) is a former Swiss ski racer .

Career

The specialist for fast routes has won 24 world cup races in its career , including 19 downhill runs and, based on victories, is the second most successful downhill skier in history behind Franz Klammer (25 downhill victories ). In 1979 and 1980 he won the small crystal ball for victory in the Downhill World Cup .
A fall on the Lauberhorn downhill run on January 24, 1981, during which he suffered a shoulder injury and had to take a break from racing (he missed the Kandahar downhill run in St. Anton am Arlberg ), was likely to cost him his say about the “little crystal ball” He might not have been able to make a comeback for the remaining two races in Aspen (March 5th / 6th, 1981) with the ranks 4 and 5, which were only discarded results . In the 1981/82 season he had achieved three wins and 115 points in the Downhill World Cup like Steve Podborski , but was only second behind the Canadian competitor. In 1982 he won the first Super-G , which was held as a World Cup competition, with a five-fold triumph for the Swiss team.

At the World Championships in 1985 in Bormio and 1989 in Vail , he was second in the downhill. He achieved this placement in 1984 and 1988 at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo and Calgary, respectively . In 1987 in Crans-Montana he celebrated his greatest success when he became world champion in downhill skiing. In 1989 he sustained serious injuries in a fall on the Saslong in Val Gardena .

Peter Müller is now active OL runners and is one of Switzerland to the best of his age group. He ran a real estate company that went bankrupt around 2006.
