Las Leñas is a ski resort in the Malargüe department ( Mendoza , Argentina ). It is one of the most important in South America and opened in 1983 . It offers skiers and other winter sports enthusiasts many opportunities.

The ski operation takes place at an altitude of 2240 and 3430 meters above sea ​​level . The area covers an area of ​​2.3 km² and offers a total slope length of 27 km. The longest continuous downhill run is 7 km.

In September 1990, Las Leñas was the venue for the first and so far only Pan American Winter Games , after the Alpine Ski World Cup had previously hosted three times . South American Cup races have been held at irregular intervals since 1994 .
