Renzo Blumenthal (born December 26, 1976 in Vella ) was Mister Switzerland of the year 2005. Numerous advertising assignments as a model followed . Blumenthal's main job is a farmer .

Life

Blumenthal is the second oldest of four sons of Ursin and Carmen Blumenthal. He lives in the mountain village of Vella in the Surselva in the Swiss canton of Graubünden . The main language of the family is Romansh .

Blumenthal originally wanted to become a professional footballer. In 1996 he played in the junior team of Grasshoppers Zurich , after which he was under contract for six months as a professional with FC St. Gallen until an injury prevented him from continuing his career. He played football for Chur 97 until summer 2005 and since then at CB Lumnezia , the club in his home region. In 2006, Blumenthal played in a celebrity selection as part of the documentary soap Der Match on Swiss television.

After the dream of a footballing career could not be fulfilled, Blumenthal became a farmer. He works on his parents' organic farm in Vella, where he lives.

He has been married to the primary school teacher Ladina since 2007; the couple has one son and three daughters.

Mister Switzerland

In 2005 Blumenthal was elected Mister Switzerland. Blumenthal then received numerous advertising contracts as a model . He modeled for several companies and products, including shoes, suitcases and leather goods, mattresses and underpants. In 2006, he appeared in a bare-chested advertising film for the Swiss tourism industry as a “crisp nature boy”. The campaign has been criticized in part as an invitation to sex tourism.

As Mister Switzerland, Blumenthal was happy to be involved in the interests of agriculture. He later ran his own organic label "Renzo Blumenthal", through which he sold sausage, cheese and other agricultural products from his own production. He also designed his own jewelry collection.

In 2006, Renzo Blumenthal was an ambassador for the Campaign Farmers Help Farmers of the Swiss Protestant Churches' aid organization .

He alternates with the former Miss Switzerland Tanja Gutmann on the internet radio buureradio.ch (Bauernradio) to present the program " Wunschkonzert" . Blumenthal is considered the first successful Mister Switzerland and has meanwhile also tried his hand at singing. In his year in office, he earned around 420,000 francs.
