Lila Wolken is a song by the German rapper Marteria in collaboration with Yasha and the singer Miss Platnum . It was released on September 14, 2012 and is included on the EP of the same name . The song was produced by The Krauts and Kid Simius .

Music video

The official music video was first published on tape.tv on August 24, 2012 , and also on YouTube a day later . It shows Marteria, Yasha and Miss Platnum in Berlin , such as on the Gasometer Schöneberg & the prefabricated buildings in Berlin-Marzahn. Among other things, one sees naked people jumping from the tower in an outdoor pool. All of this happens early in the morning. On YouTube, the music video had more than 22 million views by December 2013.

In February 2013, the music video for Purple Clouds was shortlisted in the Best Video (national) category of the Echo Music Prize . However, the video did not make it among the final five nominees. In March 2013, on the occasion of the Echo preselection nomination by Lila Wolken , another music video for a remix by the producer duo Beathoavenz von Lila Wolken was released. In the style of the music video for Cros Hit Easy, this shows the presenter Palina Rojinski lip-synching the text of the song while she walks through the apartment, where a party is ultimately being held. In addition, the rappers MC Fitti , Frauenarzt , Manny Marc and Megaloh as well as the British dancer Nikeata Thompson appear in the music video. By the end of December 2013, this music video had been viewed over 2.4 million times on YouTube.

criticism

A Giga Music writer had a very positive opinion of the song, saying that Purple Clouds would be a song that just extends the summer. The song also shows how perfectly the three voices fit together. Yasha's youthful and Miss Platnum's female voice made the song "come along" smoothly. In addition, the music video is just as carefree. The three other songs on the EP belonging to the song would also by and large scream aloud “Folks, have fun and don't worry so much about your life, because this is basically a big, big party!”.

Commercial win

Lila Wolken rose to number one in the German single charts on September 28, 2012 and stayed there for 1 week. According to Anna Gmeiner from rap.de , it is only the third German single with spoken vocals at number one in the German charts. In the following two weeks the song reached 3rd place. In total, Lila Wolken stayed in the top 10 in Germany for 13 weeks . The song was awarded a platinum record for over 300,000 singles sold . In Austria, Lila Wolken reached number 22 in the Ö3 Austria Top 40 and stayed in these charts for a total of 27 weeks. In Switzerland the song made it to number 11. There he was awarded a platinum record for over 30,000 units sold. During an interview on the RTL show The Ultimate Chartshow , Marteria herself estimated the single sales at 500,000 copies.

Critic Awards

Lila Wolken was nominated for the 1Live Krone in the category Best Single in 2012 . In addition, the music video of the song was included in the pre-selection of the Best Video category at the Echo Awards 2013 . The readers of the music and pop culture magazine Intro voted Lila Wolken as the second best song of 2012.

In October 2013, the German pop singer Heino released a cover version of Lila Wolken on the bonus edition of his cover album Mit freundlichen Grüßen .

In 2014 the Austrian singer Peter Kraus recorded a rockabilly version of Lila Wolken , which he published on his cover album Zeitensprung .
