Music and content

The song, which is characterized by hard guitar riffs and a catchy chorus ("and how you look again, holes in your pants and this constant noise ...") ironically ironizes the complaints of disappointed parents about the tragic development of their formerly so "sweet" according to their rather petty bourgeois standards “Young son, especially his predilection for loud rock music and typical punk looks as well as a lack of career aspiration. Formally, the song is unusual, as the stanzas have neither rhymes nor a meter and the varying text of the chorus is composed exclusively of rhymes on "... inherit" (also onomatopoeic: "noise", "die", "disinherit", "color." ").

Publication and Success

The single reached number 1 in Germany, number 7 in Austria and number 27 in the single charts in Switzerland. On the B-side of the single are the two titles written by Bela B. The most beautiful song in the world and I'm sorry . The album reached number 1 in Germany and stayed in the charts for a total of 68 weeks, in Austria and Switzerland it rose to number 2 each.

Furthermore, a Chinese version of the song appeared on the album Poptastic Conversation China on August 1, 2008 in China.

The doctors published a version by Junge with alternative lyrics on the so-called economy version of the album Jazz ist anders . Here the song is performed from the son's point of view and is therefore called parents : “Parents, why did you father me? I know it was the 60s, you had no money for condoms. If you didn't know coitus interruptus , you could have splashed me on the wall, then I don't have to stand around here now. "

Music video

The video for the song had its world premiere on September 14, 2007 on MTV . For reasons of youth protection, however, only a moderate version of the video may be shown before 10 p.m., because in the original video zombie-like figures are shown against the backdrop of a row of houses, living people tear organs from their bodies and eat them. The music video contains several references to the British film Shaun of the Dead , and the video's opening scene is a reference to the Arlington Road film .

Heino

The song was in January 2013. Heino his album as the first piece and the only single release Sincerely gecovert . In his version, the guitar riffs are partly replaced by wind instruments and partly by acoustic guitars. Heino sang the song live on February 23, 2013 on the TV show Wetten, dass ..? as part of a “city bet” together with more than 100 men disguised as women. His version of the song reached number 27 in the German single charts. With this, Heino was able to place himself in the German single charts for the first time in 23 years. Initially, some press releases stated that the doctors had expressed negative comments about Heino's version. However, this was denied by the record company Hot Action Records .

Heino emphasized in interviews that he meant the text, which the doctors meant ironically and also sung with ironic emphasis, not ironic, but serious.

Since Heino did not change the lyrics or the arrangement of the song, he was able to publish his version without having to obtain the consent of the doctors. However, the GEMA revenue from his version went to the doctors, while Heino himself participated in the revenue from the sales of the song.

Xavier Naidoo

Xavier Naidoo covered the song in 2013 on his album Beyond My Soul . The song is presented by Naidoo "without any punk attitude, but with feeling and a calm melody". According to Daniel Göbel from HNA, Naidoo's cover version looks like a “parody of Heino”.
