I Love It is the title of a song by the Swedish electro pop duo Icona Pop . The song appeared on the group's debut album, Icona Pop (2012) as well as on their second EP Iconic (2012).

background

I Love It was written by Charlotte Aitchison, better known as Charli XCX , Patrik Berger and Linus Eklöw, a Swedish DJ better known as Style Of Eye. The song was produced by Berger, who has already worked with the Swedish singer Robyn on Dancing On My Own or with the US artist Lana Del Rey on Off To The Races , together with Eklöw. I Love It is a 2 minute and 37 second long pop song with influences from electronic pop music and house.

When asked whether the musicians expected the song to be a success, Caroline Hjelt replied:

“I mean it's always hard to predict. You can always say that you believe strongly in the song and that you love it, but when you start realizing that other people like it as well, I mean that's such a cool experience. Especially when people come up to you and tell the story like, 'I just broke up with this girl or this boy and I listen to these lyrics and it helped me through it.' That means a lot. "

“Something like that is always difficult to predict. They always say that you have a strong belief in your own song and love it, but when you realize that other people like it too, it's a great experience. Especially when people come up to us and tell us, 'I just broke up with this girl or boy and when I heard the lyrics it helped me a lot through that time.' That means a lot to us. "

I Love It is about getting over a failed relationship. For example, Icona Pop sing about how they crash their car into a bridge and look at the burning wreckage and throw their former lover's belongings in a bag and push them down the stairs. In the course of the song, the phrase "I don't care, I love it!" Is repeated over and over again, in German: "I don't care, I love it!"

The song consists of three parts - a verse, the chorus and a bridge . The exact sequence of the parts can be seen in the box on the right.

Music video

The music video for the song was shot by Fredrik Etoall. The video begins with a short sequence in which Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt speak. The video itself shows the musicians running in a city or partying in a nightclub. Furthermore, some portrait shots of the women can be seen, as well as - in places - the faded-in lyrics of I Love It .

“It seems the time has come for the track to fully crack the international sphere. It's about time too, considering the remainder of the continent have been enjoying it since last May […] They vault into a hectic and shouty chorus packed with more energy than a six pack of Red Bull. It may have taken its time to get here , but it was totally worth the wait. "

“It seems like the time has come for the song to crack international markets. About time, when you consider that the rest of the continent has been enjoying it since last May [2012] […] The two catapult themselves into a hectic and screaming refrain that has more energy than a six-pack of Red Bull. "
