The Solor Archipelago is an Indonesian archipelago and part of the Lesser Sunda Islands in the east of the Malay Archipelago .

geography

The archipelago includes Solor , Adonara and Lembata (Lomblen) as well as some smaller islands. The islands lie between the Banda Sea in the north and the Sawu Sea in the south. To the east is the Alor archipelago , to the west is the island of Flores .

Politically, the archipelago forms one of the 14 districts ( Kabupaten ) of the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tenggara . Its area is 1,226 km²; in 2008 there were 106,312 people on the islands.
