Just Like a Pill (German " Like a Pill ") is a rock - / pop song from 2001 by the American singer Pink , together with Dallas Austin wrote. The song won a gold record in Austria .
content
The lyrics describe the consequences of an overdose from the first person perspective : ( "I think I took too much" - I think I took too much ). The lyrics are considered autobiographical, because the singer reported in interviews about her drug abuse . An overdose occurred on Thanksgiving 1995, before her career began.
“That's part of who I am but I'm not as self-destructive as I used to be. I've done it so I'm not curious about it. "
“It's part of me, but I'm not as self-destructive as I used to be. I did it, so I'm no longer curious about it. "
The analgesic mentioned in the lyrics ( "I can't stay on your morphine, cuz its making me itch" - I can't stay with your morphine because it makes me itch ) is also used as a metaphor for false expectations in a relationship when the singer turns directly to a person ( “And I swear you're just like a pill / Instead of makin 'me better, you keep makin' me ill” - And I curse, you're just like a pill / Instead of it I feel better, you just keep making me sick ).
