Songs

Stupid girls

The single was released on March 10, 2006. In the music video for Stupid Girls , for which she won the MTV Video Music Award in the Best Pop Act category in 2006, the US singer satirized numerous celebrity colleagues such as Paris Hilton , Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Simpson and went public with their behavior and image hard in court. Stupid Girls was the first single from the album and was written by Pink in collaboration with Billy Mann. With this song she was nominated at the Grammy Awards 2007 in the category Best Female Vocal Performance - Pop , which was awarded to Christina Aguilera .

Who Knew

Who Knew is a rock song that Pink wrote together with Luke Gottwald and Max Martin and released as the second single on May 26, 2006. In Who Knew she processes the loss of a friend as well as that of a friendship. It's about the mourning process as such and the fact that someone who is still there today can no longer be there the next day, or about the fact that people change if you don't see them for a long time. Who Knew did not come out in the US until the summer of 2007 and made it into the US Top 10 on the Billboard charts right after U & Ur Hand .

U + Ur hand

U & Ur Hand is the third single and was released on September 29, 2006. The single was Pink's first Top 10 hit since 2002's Just Like a Pill , where it achieved platinum status for 200,000 copies downloaded from the Internet.

Nobody Knows

Nobody Knows is the fourth single and was released on January 12, 2007.

Dear Mr. President

In Dear Mr. President , Pink criticizes President George W. Bush's policies in the form of an open letter . The song was originally supposed to be released as the third single. Because of the lyrics it was decided to prefer U & Ur Hand as a single. One passage attacks the US president sharply. This reads: I can only imagine what the first lady would have to say: You have come a long way from whiskey and cocaine. Finally, it was released on April 27, 2007 as the 5th single in German-speaking countries. She stayed in the German Top 10 longer than any other Pink single before, which earned her a gold record for over 150,000 copies sold.

Fingers

Fingers is about masturbating , Pink herself said in an interview that she wanted to draw attention to the fact that masturbation should no longer be a taboo subject, as it was perfectly fine.

I have seen the rain

I Have Seen the Rain is a special song for Pink as she sang it with her father James T. Moore. He wrote the song during his time as a soldier in the Vietnam War . At the beginning of the track, Pink says that this song is the first one she learned.

I'm not dead

The album's title track is for her husband and longtime friend Carey Hart. She wrote it at night after a heated argument with him.

In the USA and Great Britain there is one track before the bonus track I Have Seen the Rain called Centerfold , which is in the tracklist in Germany.

DVD

On April 13, 2007 the live DVD Live from Wembley Arena was released , showing the concert from London on the "I'm Not Dead Tour". In Germany the DVD entered number one.

Success and sales

album

The album entered the album charts at number 1 in Germany. I'm Not Dead reached ninth place in the 2006 annual charts and seventh place in the 2007 annual charts. The success of the album can also be seen from the fact that it was in the top 30 of the German album charts for 75 consecutive weeks and was in the top 10 for a total of 23 weeks. It reached triple platinum for over 600,000 copies sold. In addition, all five singles made it into the top 20, three of them even in the top 10.

In Great Britain the album reached number two on the album charts and also reached 3 × platinum with over 1,000,000 copies sold. In Australia, the album has been in the top 10 for 76 weeks, more often than any other album before, and in the 61st week it again reached the top position. The album has so far reached 11 times platinum for 770,000 copies sold.
