The song was released as a single on September 29, 2006 by LaFace Records . After Stupid Girls and Who Knew, it is the third single from their album I'm Not Dead . The song is 3:33 minutes long. U + Ur Hand became P! Nk's first top 10 success in the USA since Just Like a Pill in 2002. The American RIAA certified a platinum record for the digital version for more than one million copies sold.
Music video
The music video for the single was made at the same time as the music video for Stupid Girls in December 2005 by director Dave Meyers. In the music video, Pink embodies several characters from the New Zealand comic artist Martin Emonds. Pink announced in an interview for MTV that she had spent four times more time with a makeup artist than in front of the camera.
