Susan Albers

Susan Albers (born December 29, 1983 in Borken , bourgeois Susanne Maria Albers ) is a German singer , pianist and songwriter from Rhede in the Münsterland .

Life

Susan Albers grew up in Rhede and appeared on stage for the first time at the RCC (Rheder Carneval Club) at the age of six. Since she was eight, she received music lessons and learned to play the piano. From 2000/2001 she took part in the family cabaret “Snow White's Sisters” founded by her mother. Albers worked in the traffic and advertising community in Rhede until 2013 before entering the music industry full-time.

Musical career

In 2004 she was discovered by Andrea Vitz, an employee of a music publisher and her former manager, during a gig and went to London with her in 2005 for a year. There she worked with the songwriter Geoff Holliss. Together with Holliss, she produced her debut single Big Shot in 2008 .

In 2011 Klaus-Dieter Keusgen recorded her debut album Who Am I in the Haldern recording studio , which she recorded together with her live band made up of Dutch and German musicians. This contained a new edition of Big Shot as well as songs by the songwriters Winston Sela (produced, inter alia, Maxi Priest with the song Close To You ) and Brian Harris (produced Mica Paris with the song You Are My One Temptation ). The album was released on September 9, 2011.

Albers had already sung a duet from the musical "Elisabeth" ( When I want to dance ) with the tenor Ricardo Marinello in 2010 for a benefit project in Emmerich . In addition to her stage appearances, she has also worked for the “Yamaha Music Europe” group since 2011 and presented the Clavinova series at the Frankfurt Music Fair and at various events in Europe . In spring 2011 she won the "Schleswig-Holstein-Lied - Reloaded" competition with her Yamaha colleagues Christian Martini and Tobias Dahm. In 2011, Albers was awarded 1st place at the 29th German Rock and Pop Prize in Wiesbaden in the categories of “Best Singer / Songwriter”, “Best Pop Band” and “Best Pop Singer”. Her album achieved 2nd place in the category "Best English Language Album 2011". In June 2012 Susan Albers was on stage at the Borkener Stadtfest as the opening act for Boss Hoss .

Germany seeks the superstar

At the end of 2012 she took part in the castings as a candidate for the tenth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar and was seen on public television for the first time on January 5, 2013 with the song Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys . In several preliminary rounds she was elected to the finals of the top ten, where she finished fourth.

Die Zeit nach Deutschland is looking for the superstar

Since leaving DSDS, Albers has been traveling nationally and internationally and has been involved in many charitable causes, among other things. For example, she was at the animal shelter festival in Bocholt in mid-September and worked with Claudia Ludwig ( animals are looking for a home ) to ensure that the animals find a new home. In the Borken aid project "Schlager für Mali" she was on stage with regional hits. In addition to other benefit concerts, such as B. for the children's home in Singen , she was present at the end of 2013 at the Lichtblicke Gala, which, in cooperation with Radio WMW and the village of Westmünsterland ( Legden ), supports people from the region who have got into distress through no fault of their own .

In Erfurt, Albers gave a singing workshop for young talents and is also part of a jury for a Christmas CD in cooperation with Volksbank and Rheinische Post . At the beginning of November she was the opening act for Roman Lob in the “Rock and Pop Museum” ( Gronau ). At "Musical Allstars" in the Grugahalle (Essen), she sang some of the most famous musical songs, such as: B. from " Elisabeth ", " The Prince of Egypt " and " Tabaluga ". Together with her aunt and TV coach Erna Hüls, who has already made several appearances on “center.tv Münster” for her contributions to life, the two of them present the “Sound & Emotion” event, a mixture of music, inspiration and Entertainment.

Career

With the German-Swedish DJ team from “J&M vs. DJ Alan Kay “she produced her first single, Heaven Is Not Enough , which was released in spring 2014. After Susan Albers released the song Find A New Love as part of the project together with colleagues Christian Martini and Tobias Dahm in 2012 , the single Welcome to Kiel was released in January 2015 . In addition to numerous individual appearances, she is again on the road for Yamaha across Europe, for example to present the new “Tyros 5” keyboard. In 2015 she also traveled beyond Europe's borders and had a few appearances in Canada as well as in China.

Since 2017 she has appeared as a singer with the Bundeswehr Big Band .
