Yamaha Clavinova
Clavinova is a brand name of the Japanese company Yamaha Corporation for a range of digital piano products launched in 1983 . The name Clavinova is a word creation which could be roughly translated as "new piano" and implies the association of a new generation of electronic keyboard instruments. The term is sometimes used as a generic name for digital pianos (or electric pianos).
The first Clavinova series was named YP. Clavinovas are higher priced product lines from Yamaha. There are several series under the name.
Current Clavinova model series
Clavinova Classical Piano (CLP)
The CLP series includes "classic" digital pianos that are designed to imitate or replace a conventional piano. The computer interface is therefore installed relatively inconspicuously on the left and right of the keyboard. The instruments have a compact housing with integrated pedals ( forte, piano and sostenuto pedal ), loudspeakers and a keyboard cover integrated into the housing.
The CLP series includes the following instruments in the 600 series launched in 2017:
- CLP-625,
- CLP-635,
- CLP-645,
- CLP-675 and
- CLP-685 as well
- CLP-665GP (GP for Grand Piano), a digital stub grand piano.
Depending on the equipment, a weighted, dynamic keyboard with a three-stage hammer mechanism, which is modeled on a grand piano mechanism, is installed as the keyboard. From the CLP-645 onwards, real wood keys with a synthetic, ivory-like coating are offered, from the CLP-675 onwards with weighting differentiated according to pitch. The instruments provide two grand piano registers ( sampling of the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand pianos ). From the CLP-635 onwards, further registers such as harpsichord, church organ, electronic organ and electric pianos are available. The devices from the CLP-645 onwards have had a Bluetooth interface since 2017.
The CLP models are available in different finishes, depending on the model:
- dark rosewood (named by Yamaha with dark rosewood , a false Germanization of the English rosewood ),
- dark walnut,
- White,
- white ash,
- black and
- highly polished black.
Clavinova Smart Piano (CSP)
The newly introduced 2017 series CSP combines a tablet / smartphone from Apple and a Clavinova digital piano. The Smart Pianist app enables access to the various options of the digital piano, including a. to over 690 different sound registers, over 470 accompaniment styles, over 400 supplied songs and more. The graphical user interface also enables fine adjustments that were previously not available or only available to experts for reasons of complexity, such as adjusting the velocity curve.
CSP devices have an automatic accompaniment. Learning new pieces that are loaded into the app is supported by LEDs called Stream Lights above the keyboard, which, like Guitar-Hero, announce when a key is pressed. CSP instruments are available in white, black and high-gloss black surfaces.
The CSP series, which started in 2017, includes the following instruments:
- CSP-150 and
- CSP-170.
Clavinova Versatile Piano (CVP)
The CVP series combines CLP pianos with PSR - keyboards , so supplemented, in particular the piano with a rhythm section (styles) and an automatic accompaniment and an extensive song player, -Editor- and -Sequencerbereich. The CVP series in the range launched in 2015 includes the following instruments:
- CVP-701,
- CVP-705,
- CVP-709 and
- CVP-709GP (GP for Grand Piano), a digital stub grand piano.
In the 2019 model series, the range was expanded to include the following instruments:
- CVP-809GP PWH
- CVP-809GP PE
- CVP-809 PWH
