World League eSport Bundesliga

The World League eSport Bundesliga is a former German e-sports - League that the global umbrella brand was under World League eSport (WLES) and ESBL belonged GmbH. Many former players switched to the unofficial successor, the eSport Bundesliga , which has now also been discontinued.

history

1st season

In August 2005 the first season of the eSports Bundesliga (ESBL) started in the disciplines FIFA 2005 , as well as Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source with prize money of 45,825 €. 2nd season

In the second season, the World League eSport has specialized in sports games. FIFA 06 is played in the second season . Prize money of € 50,000 will be paid out to the players in the second ESBL season. On the occasion of the ESBL, Arcor founded a works team called Team Arcor Electric Eleven . On August 23, 2006, Hertha BSC announced that they had signed Javkhlan Tahery Boeini, a player in the World League eSport Bundesliga. In addition to Arcor and Hertha BSC, AEG and Hagenuk , which belong to ITM Technology AG, also provide their own factory teams. The ITM Technology Teams started in cooperation with The Phone House and ElectronicScout24 and have also launched the so-called eSports mobile phone with the hagenuk M128. The companies CineStar and Comunio provide additional factory teams .

League structure

The World League eSport Bundesliga has based its league structure on the Bundesliga . There are 18 players in each league. The games of the 1st Bundesliga are played in the CineStar IMAX in the Sony Center Berlin.

In addition to the five leagues, there is also the ESBL Cup , which is based on the DFB Cup . The players of the 1st Bundesliga, 2nd Bundesliga, 3rd Bundesliga and Oberliga take part in the ESBL Pokal. From the quarter-finals, the ESBL Cup will be played offline.
