The Phone House Deutschland GmbH ( TPH Germany ) is an organizational holding company based in Münster, Westphalia, and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Drillisch AG. Via its operating companies The Phone House Services GmbH , it offers telecommunications- related services , with The Phone House Telecom GmbH products and services for mobile communications , landline and multimedia and provides organizational services and know-how, for example to Yourfone AG within the Drillisch Group, via the The Phone House Shop Management GmbH is available.

Company history

The company was founded in 1986 as ABC Rufsysteme in Münster by René Obermann . In 1990, Hong Kong-based Hutchison Whampoa took over 68% of the shares. In 1991 the company received its first service provider licenses and in 1995 had around 100,000 mobile phone customers. In 1995 it was fully integrated into the British Orange plc. incorporated and has been operating under the name Hutchison Telecom GmbH since 1998 . In 2003, Carphone Warehouse plc took over . the company, renamed it in 2004 to The Phone House Telecom GmbH and in 2004 founded the holding company The Phone House Deutschland GmbH .

In 2008 the 200th The Phone House shop opened. Due to a lack of profits, various branches were closed in the course of a company restructuring, so that in 2015 around 60 shops were still operated independently. In the first quarter of 2015, the subsidiary The Phone House Telecom GmbH announced the transfer of the self-operated shops to Fexcom GmbH .

Products

In the mobile communications sector, The Phone House had offers from T-Mobile , Vodafone , E-Plus and O₂ as resellers. From 2008 to 2014 The Phone House only sold all original tariffs from T-Mobile, Vodafone, E-Plus, O₂ and thus gradually left the service provider business.

Since the beginning of 2009, customers in the T-Mobile and Vodafone network have been gradually migrated to the network operators. Since 2010, the service provider customers in the network have been migrated from E-Plus to the network operator. All new orders were placed directly via the respective network operator. The Phonehouse no longer offers its own service provider tariffs. The existing prepaid customers were migrated to Mobilcom-debitel .

In the fixed line segment, The Phone House marketed various DSL and fixed line offers. Another mainstay was the mobile internet area. The Phone House was the market leader here with the marketing of web books with data plans.

Distribution channels and expansion

The Phone House operated more than 210 own and franchised stores in Germany . Since October 2010, The Phone House has been operating two “Wireless World” stores in the CentrO in Oberhausen and Dortmund on Westenhellweg. A selection of smartphones , notebooks and netbooks , as well as accessories, is offered on around 150 m² .

With over 500 active specialist retailers, The Phone House also has one of the largest specialist retail platforms in Germany under the “Mobile World Distribution” brand.

Furthermore, The Phone House operated Telekom Shops under its own management from 2006 to 2015 , which did not differ externally from the Deutsche Telekom shops. Even the shop fitting was identical. These shops were handed over to BVJ Holding GmbH in December. In addition, The Phone House is an exclusive partner of Samsung Electronics and operates two locations as "Samsung Experience Stores".
