history

Torsten Knippertz (2013)

On August 18, 2009, the Fantalk went on air for the first time on German sports television. At that time it was still called Heimspiel - Der FanTalk . Various guests from the sports and entertainment industry discussed a topic from the field of football in the 11 Friends Bar in the Rüttenscheid district of Essen . In addition to celebrities, fans also gathered in the bar, which is why the show was called Fantalk .

The first regular guest was the cabaret artist Frank Goosen . In addition to him, Reiner Calmund , Rainer Mendel (fan representative of 1. FC Köln) and Ben Redelings were invited to the first broadcast. The moderators from the very beginning were Frank Buschmann and Lou Richter , who alternately led the show. As co-moderator, Torsten Knippertz was responsible for capturing the opinions of the audience in the bar and communicating with the TV viewers via the Internet.

Initially, around 30 episodes were produced by April 2010. After an almost two-year break, the program returned to Sport1's program in January 2012 with the new sponsor name Mobilat Fantalk . It replaced the previously broadcast formats Bundesliga Aktuell Spezial and Tuesday LIVE - The Football Talk , in which the Tuesday matches of the UEFA Champions League were analyzed live in the studio. Moderators were Thomas Helmer and Frank Buschmann.

On February 14, 2012, the broadcast began for the first time at 8:15 p.m., which enabled the Champions League broadcast to be accompanied. The duration of the episode thus extended to more than three hours. The show got the title Mobilat Fantalk XXL . Live pictures of the games may not be shown, as the pay-TV broadcaster Sky has the sole rights to broadcast the Tuesday games.

Peter Neururer has been a regular guest since the beginning of the 2012/13 season . He did not give up this function when he became the coach of VfL Bochum in April 2013 after a three-year absence from a club .

In April 2013, the program achieved its highest reach to date, when more than one million viewers tuned in during the semi-final match between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid .

On August 6, 2013, the show returned with a new season from the summer break. Frank Buschmann , who ended his collaboration with the broadcaster, was replaced by Sascha Bandermann . Thomas Herrmann , Thomas Strunz and Stefan Schnoor established themselves as guests alongside Peter Neururer.

At the beginning of August 2014, the Bitburger brewery announced that it would be the new title sponsor of the program for the 2014/15 season. It has been called Bitburger Fantalk ever since .
