Jörg Dahlmann

Jörg Dahlmann (born January 10, 1959 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German football commentator .

Life

Dahlmann was born in Gelsenkirchen-Buer and grew up in Gladbeck . He graduated from high school in 1977 and did his community service in the Catholic youth welfare office in Gladbeck. Dahlmann gained his first journalistic experience at a parish newspaper. He was also involved in creating the sports section of the Ruhr Nachrichten . He then wrote articles for the WAZ about local events in and around Gladbeck. From 1979 to 1980 he did an internship in Lippstadt . He then studied sport, English and geography at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . Around 1983 Dahlmann sat in on ZDF in Wiesbaden .

Career

From the sports department of the ZDF he reported, among other things, on football world and European championships as well as the Olympic Games. Dahlmann became known for his football reports from the Bundesliga stadiums . He then worked at the Pay TV transmitter Premiere and Sat.1 (from 1 June 1992 including Head of the Southwest editorial in Mainz, commentator for Bundesliga games and presenter of the sport in the breakfast television). He also commented on the Champions League at tm3 .

From the 2004/05 soccer season until 2017, he worked for the sports broadcaster DSF, now Sport1 . There he presented the daily soccer magazine “Bundesliga Aktuell”, the current second division events in “Hattrick” and was also a commentator in “Bundesliga - Der Sonntag”. He is also the author of a column in the Wiesbadener Kurier at regular intervals .

Shortly before New Year's Eve 2004, Dahlmann fell ill with colon cancer . Since January 24, 2005 he has been in front of the camera again. He also commented totally on LIGA! the games of the Bundesliga. In 1999 he was awarded first prize in the television sector by the Association of German Sport Journalists (VDS) for a report on the faulty patch made by the then FCK trainer Otto Rehhagel .

For the 2017/18 Bundesliga season, Dahlmann switched to the pay-TV channel Sky Deutschland , where it reports on the Bundesliga, 2nd division and Champions League.

Together with the TV presenter Ramona Leiß and the German Cancer Aid Association , he published the colon cancer patient guide .

As an ambassador, Jörg Dahlmann supports the Respekt! No place for racism .

Journalistic style

According to Dahlmann, the main task of football is to entertain. Accordingly, Dahlmann also belonged to the ranks of the Ran team around Reinhold Beckmann, who saw sport more as an entertainment program than an information program.
