Hansi Küpper

Hans Georg "Hansi" Küpper (born February 20, 1961 in Essen ) is a German football commentator .

Life

Hansi Küpper started playing soccer at the age of four. Later he was a midfielder at SSV Werne and was West German runner-up with the A-Jugend. From 1989 he commented on Bundesliga games for the ARD Bundesliga conference on the radio. During this time he worked at WDR in Cologne . He also commented on tm3 , Sat.1 , Premiere , DSF and in the 2006/07 season for the then Bundesliga broadcaster Arena , until it transferred the Bundesliga rights to Premiere after only one year. From the 2007/08 season he was employed again at Premiere. There he was responsible for the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup and the UEFA Champions League . Since the 2009/10 season he has been commenting on the Bundesliga format LIGA total! . Since the same season he has been commenting on matches in the UEFA Europa League on Sat. 1 and, until 2012, also on matches in the UEFA Champions League.

His comment on the last day of the 2000/01 season is well known: “The German champions in 2001 are Schalke 04.” Küpper commented on the game HSV against Bayern Munich. Sergej Barbarez had scored 1-0 against Munich, which would have won Schalke 04 , which defeated SpVgg Unterhaching at the same time , the championship. However, after equalizing in the 94th minute, Bayern became champions. He is also an avowed fan of Borussia Dortmund. From 2010 to 2017 Küpper had a fixed column with the same title under the title Hansi Mondiale in the stadium magazine Echt and in the members magazine Borussia. From 2013 to 2017 he commented for Sport1.FM and Sport1 . He has been with Sky since summer 2017 .

He is also known through the video game Pro Evolution Soccer , which he initially commented with Wolff Fuss and since 2015 with Marco Hagemann .

Awards

In 2003 he was awarded the German Television Prize for the Premiere Bundesliga Conference.
