Nelson Müller (* 13. February 1979 in Breman Asikuma , Ghana as Nelson Nutakor ) is a German chef , restaurateur and singer .

biography

Private life

Müller is the son of Ghanaian parents. He came to Germany as a toddler, grew up in a German foster family in Stuttgart - Plieningen and attended secondary school in Filderstadt- Bernhausen. He initially used the family name of his foster parents "Müller" as an artist name. In February 2013 he was selected by his foster parents adopted and took the last name officially. He maintains contact with his biological parents, who now live in London .

Career

After training as a cook at Fissler-Post in Stuttgart-Plieningen and in the Veneto under Holger Bodendorf in Wenningstedt on Sylt , Müller worked in the star restaurants Résidence by Henri Bach in Essen and Orangery by Lutz Niemann in the Maritim Hotel Timmendorfer Strand . Since September 2009 he has been the owner of the Schote restaurant in Essen , which was awarded a star by the Michelin Guide in November 2011 . In addition, since the beginning of 2014 he has been running Brasserie Müllers auf der Rü at Essen's Rüttenscheider Stern with specialties from the Ruhr area. He gave up the Wallberg restaurant in Saalbau Essen in March 2015 after six months. The “Schote” restaurant has been in a new location since the end of May.

After some appearances on local television of the WDR (The Red Apron) , Müller was cast as a TV chef for the ZDF . There he appears in various programs ( Lanz kocht ! , Die Küchenschlacht ) as a cook, presenter and juror. He also worked for Germany's master chef on Sat.1 . He also appears as a soul singer and with a band.

In 2015 he shot the documentary series Nelson Müller's Landpartie for ZDF , which was broadcast on October 11, 2015. Since September 2017, Müller has been adding to the jury of the MasterChef show around Ralf Zacherl , Sybille Schönberger and Justin Leone on Sky . From October 2017 Mueller also appeared as host of the first 10 episodes for ZDFneo produced quiz show Kennste to? on.
