Holger Pfandt

Holger Pfandt (born February 17, 1963 in Düsseldorf ) is a German football commentator and reporter for Sky Germany .

Life

Holger Pfandt played for the junior teams of TuS Gerresheim and Bundesliga club Fortuna Düsseldorf . Pfandt studied German and politics at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. He began his journalistic career at the Neue Rhein Zeitung , after which he worked for a few years at the Rheinische Post . He also worked as a freelance writer for the sports magazine Kicker . In 1990 he moved to the local radio station Antenne Düsseldorf , in 1994 to West German Broadcasting . There he commented on the Bundesliga in the Bundesliga conference for five years , as well as European football matches (including the 1997 UEFA Cup Final Inter Milan - FC Schalke 04) and numerous international matches. In 1998 he reported for ARD about the soccer world championship in France .

His first television station was the Munich broadcaster DSF , before he worked exclusively as a football commentator for the pay-TV channel Premiere from the 2000/01 season . As one of the Saturday conference commentators, he and his colleagues received the German Television Prize in 2003 . The Premiere Bundesliga Conference was named the best sports program of the year. When Arena secured the Bundesliga rights in the 2006/07 season, he was hired by the new rights holder. After only one year, Arena transferred the rights back to Premiere. Pfandt received an engagement with Pro7 , as the broadcaster had secured FC Bayern Munich's games in the Uefa Cup for one season . In December 2007 he also commented on the four-day tournament “McFit Masters of Legends” together with Gerd Szepanski .

From the 2009/10 season LIGA secured itself totally! in addition to Sky, the live rights to the Bundesliga soccer games. Holger Pfandt worked there as a live commentator for four years before the station lost its exploitation rights in 2013. From 2009 he commented on the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League for SAT 1 . In the summer of 2015, the man from Düsseldorf returned to his former employer, Sky Deutschland . For the pay-TV provider, he is currently commenting on games in all competitions (Bundesliga, 2nd division, DFB-Pokal, Champions League and Europa League).

Pfandt also worked as a political moderator for many years. For the first time he stood on the stage in 1998 with the then candidate for chancellor of the SPD, Gerhard Schröder . He later moderated the Chancellor's election campaign appearances. In the Bundestag election campaigns in 2002 and 2005, he was on an election campaign tour with the Social Democrats.

In 2013, Pfandt also acted as a commentator on some television entertainment shows, such as the four-part RTL show Cash Crash with presenter Daniel Hartwich , the casting series Das Duell - All against BVB on SAT 1 and the SAT 1 productions Germany against Holland and Germany against Austria with moderator Matthias Killing .

Pfandt lives in his native city of Düsseldorf, has two sons and is divorced.
