history

The parent clubs

In 1908 members of the wild sports club Britannia Gerresheim founded the Urania 08 Gerresheim club . He joined the Glashütte gymnastics club after the end of the First World War . In 1919 the footballers split up again as Lawn Sport 08 Gerresheim , also known as VfR Gerresheim . In 1927, the lawn athletes were promoted to the first-class first district class Berg-Mark at the time . There the team was able to cause some surprises, such as a 2-2 at Fortuna Düsseldorf in the 1928/29 season. After the season, the qualification for the single-track district league Berg / Mark was missed. A year later it was promoted again, before it went down a class again in 1932. The low point of the 1931/32 season was a 1:13 defeat at SSV Barmen .

The second parent club was the Free Gymnastics Association Gerresheim, founded in 1901 . The Footballer of the workers sports club took the game to the operation Workers Gymnastics and Sports Association in part. In 1924, after winning the championship of the ATSB-Kreis West Germany with a 3-2 victory against Bahrenfelder SV, the team became northwest German champions and reached the final round of the German championship . In neutral Magdeburg , the Gerresheimers initially achieved a 1: 1 against SV Stern Breslau , but lost the replay, which was also played in Magdeburg, with 1: 3. Three years later , FT Gerresheim was again district champion in West Germany, but lost the final of the northwest German championship against Lorbeer 06 Hamburg with 0: 3. When the National Socialists came to power , the association was dissolved.

Finally, on September 1, 1945, the VfR Gerresheim, the SV Glashütte and the members of the Free Gymnastics Association Gerresheim merged the gymnastics and sports community Gerresheim and Glashütte .

After the merger

In 1947 the TuS became champions of the Düsseldorf district class and, after a successful promotion round, rose to the state league , the highest amateur league at the time on the Lower Rhine . In the 1947/48 season, the relegation only succeeded after a 1-0 win in the decider against Homberger SV , before the Gerresheimer had to relegate a year later as bottom of the table. Back in the district class, the team reached the runner-up behind the VfL Wald in 1954 , before relegation to the district class followed three years later. In 1959 he was promoted back to the district class. There the team was runner-up behind SV Ratingen 04 in 1963 .

After eleven years in the district class, the Gerresheimers had to relegate to the district class again in 1970 and returned four years later. This was followed by another relegation in 1979. After that, the club gave guest appearances in the district league from 1989 to 1991 and in the 1997/98 season. From 1998 the club appeared in the district league. In 2019 he returned to the district league.
