Limonow (novel)
Limonow is the German title of a novel biography written by Emmanuel Carrère about the Russian writer and politician Eduard Limonow . The French original edition was published in 2011 under the title Limonov by Éditions POL, a publishing house of Éditions Gallimard . The German edition, translated by Claudia Hamm , was published by Matthes & Seitz Berlin in 2012 .

Carrère has known Limonow since the 1980s. The biography he wrote was based on the idea of writing a report about him.

On the one hand, Carrère tells the life story of Limonow, at the same time interlacing it with his own biography. In terms of content, the author relies primarily on Limonov's autobiographical works.
reception
The book became a bestseller in France and was recommended for reading by the then President Nicolas Sarkozy, among others . For Limonov , Carrère received the Prix Renaudot and the Prix de la langue française in 2011 .
