ARMEC Mechanik AG is a vehicle manufacturer based in Emmenbrücke , Lucerne, which is the only manufacturer in Switzerland to offer motorcycle combinations.

history

The company was founded in 1986 by aircraft mechanics Kurt and Markus Aregger. ARMEC manufactures its own sidecars and complete motorcycle combinations, which are sold worldwide. The sidecar combinations from ARMEC have been approved and certified in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines and requirements of the road approval regulations. In addition, ARMEC offers snow-making systems .

Swivel team

Since 1986 ARMEC has been the world's first manufacturer to mass- produce swivel combinations ; the drive for the series combination was the sidecar-compatible Moto Guzzi- Le Mans. Two uniball joints, which are located on a subframe on the vehicle's longitudinal axis, allow the tractor to lean up to 30 degrees to the right, while the tire grip limit limits the lean angle in left-hand bends. The sidecar remains almost horizontal. The front joint is a few centimeters higher than the rear joint and thus creates a track offset that results in a “steering effect” of the sidecar ( Tremolino or Sidewinder model ).

Team building

The manufacturer ARMEC has been delivering complete motorcycle combinations since 1988; Individual components such as subframes or conversion kits for self-construction are not available. ARMEC has received factory approval from BMW-Motorrad for the conversion of the models R 1200 R , R 1200 RT , R 1200 GS , K 1200 GT , among other things . Triumph Motorcycles also allows the Triumph Rocket III to be converted into a motorcycle combination. This means that there is no additional expense for the approval process in public road traffic. In addition, it is possible to convert and individually purchase motorcycles from Honda , Kawasaki , Moto Guzzi , Suzuki and Yamaha into sidecars.

sidecar

The following sidecars are produced independently at ARMEC:

  • Sidewinder, single-seat sidecar (swivel trailer)
  • Tremolino, single-seat sidecar (swivel and scooter teams)
