Günter Schlipper (born August 13, 1962 in Oberhausen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career as a player

After two years with the Essen amateur league club BV Altenessen , the midfielder's professional career began in 1983 at MSV Duisburg . After he performed well there and later at Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , 1. FC Köln brought him to the Bundesliga in 1988 . There he could not meet the high expectations and left Cologne after six months. He went back to the 2nd Bundesliga for FC Schalke 04 . With the miners he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 1991. In two years in the Bundesliga with the Royal Blues, he was used 33 times. In 1993 he left Schalke and returned to Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, where he played one season in the Oberliga Nordrhein . After the end of his playing career, he confessed to taking Captagon during his time at MSV Duisburg.

Coaching career

From 1995 to 2003 Schlipper was a player and then assistant coach at the North Rhine-Westphalian league club SV Adler Osterfeld . Osterfeld had the team transferred back to the Lower Rhine regional league after the 2004/05 season ; Schlipper took over the post of head coach (from Hans-Günter Bruns ) for the 2005/06 season . In February 2010 he resigned as a coach.

After the career

Schlipper has been self-employed since 2006 and the owner of a scaffolding company in Oberhausen with five employees. Schlipper is a member of the traditional Schalke team and plays there several times a year. He also trains the ERGO national team once a year, a team made up of amateur players selected by the insurance company, who can then compete against the Schalke professionals.

Schlipper lives in Oberhausen-Lirich.
