IT system management clerk , formerly an information and telecommunications system clerk (IT system clerk) , is a state-recognized apprenticeship . The merchants design and implement customer-specific IT system solutions. You advise and train customers , design marketing strategies, work out offers and settle orders.

IT system clerks work primarily in the IT industry, e.g. B. in software consulting and production or in data processing services. Reorganization of IT professions

On August 1, 2020, an amending ordinance for three-year industrial IT professions will come into force. The IT system clerk apprenticeship is being replaced by the new IT system management apprenticeship .

Duration of training

The training usually lasts three years. Training takes place in the dual training system : this includes in-company training, which is accompanied by school-based training.

The core qualifications common to all new IT professions are supplemented by the specific specialist qualifications. Interdisciplinary thinking and the ability to absorb the interaction of the technologies are encouraged.

Area of ​​responsibility

The IT system salesman's area of ​​responsibility includes providing information and telecommunications solutions for customers, as well as carrying out commercial, technical and organizational projects for the introduction and expansion of IT systems . This work mainly takes place in purchasing , sales and consulting . He is also responsible for the implementation of services and should be available to the customer as a central contact person. His work also includes market monitoring for information and telecommunications systems, as well as the implementation of marketing measures .

exam

The final examination of the IT systems clerk is carried out by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry . The test is carried out in two areas, including the “practical area” and the “written test”.

The practical exam

In the practical area, the trainee must carry out a project work either in the six-month internship or in the training company and record this in documentation. The project work comprises a maximum of 15 pages of text and a maximum of 25 pages of appendix. In addition, the project must be presented and defended before an examination board .

First, the trainee has to agree with his company on a job-related project that has both business and IT content. This project must be submitted and confirmed in the form of an application to the IHK . After confirmation, the trainee has 30 hours to implement and document the project.

After the documentation has been submitted, the trainee receives an invitation to the oral examination after some time. This is divided into the sections presentation and technical discussion. For the first section, a 15-minute presentation must be made to the three examiners on the Examination Board . The technical discussion follows immediately after a short break. Here the examinee has to answer the questions of the examiners present for about 15 minutes.

The training ends after the announcement of all examination results. This is usually the case at the time of the oral examination.

The written exam

The final written exam takes place twice a year and is divided into three major areas that differ in their value and length.

First, the two sections GA1 (Holistic Task 1) and GA2 (Holistic Task 2) are written. Topics from the fields of economics, accounting, application development, information technology systems theory and English are queried here. Each year the network plan comprises an essential part of the holistic tasks.

The third and final section of the written exam deals with economics and social studies. Several multiple choice questions have to be answered in 60 minutes .
