Telamo is a German music label based in Munich that was founded in 2012 by Ken Otremba. The label specializes in hits and folk music .

history

Ken Otremba worked from 1998 at BMG Entertainment , which in 2004 merged with the Ariola label into the Sony BMG Music Entertainment joint venture . The business areas for pop music on the one hand and Schlager and folk music on the other have been separated. The Ariola label has since been dissolved, but reactivated again soon after, as it always made a profit. In 2012 Otremba was deputy head of the Ariola label.

Otremba cited the changes in the media and retail landscape in the music industry as the reason for founding a new label: the marketing of pop music has decoupled from the older target group, which is particularly accessible through marketing through television commercials with overlaid telephone numbers. This requires a different form of cooperation with possible marketing partners. Otremba was able to win the provider Shop24Direct as its first partner, and Sony Music is responsible for distribution .

In 2014, the Hamburg hit label Palm Records was taken over by Telamo , Telamino for children's music , Telamonte for folk music and folk music, Telamega for party music and Isarwelle for musically innovative projects from the Alpine region were set up as sub- labels . With the takeover of Palm Records, Telamo's artist portfolio expanded to include more than 1,000 titles by artists such as Andrea Jürgens , Ingrid Peters , Uta Bresan , Gruppe Wind and many more.

In July 2015 Telamo switched the distribution of digital and physical sound carriers. Since then, the Hamburg-based Warner Music Group has been responsible for sales in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. At the same time, Zebralution took over digital sales outside the German-speaking market.

The label's first release, the album Liebesgrüsse auf der Harmonica by Michael Hirte , reached number 18 in the German album charts .
