The shepherds
The shepherds are a German music group founded in 1990 , which can be assigned to the field of folk music . Their trademark is the barefoot appearance in shepherd's costumes.
Career
From a traditional group that was at home in Bretten ( Karlsruhe district ), the merchant Thomas Rothfuß and the police chief inspector Uwe Erhardt founded the music group Die Schäfer in 1990 together with Heike Bühler, Sabine Dorwarth and Edith Angst . Their first single was called Halt den Sonnenstrahl fest , followed in 1991 by their first album and by taking part in the popular music superhit parade . This made the group known to a larger audience. The three women left the group in 1992 and were replaced by Christine Schmid , Carla Scheithe and Gabi Neukam. But Christine did not stay long either and was replaced by Claudia. In addition to Thomas and Uwe, Gabi Neukam, a physiotherapist and sports teacher by profession, and the nurse Claudia Ulrich belonged to the band. In the meantime the group has been a regular guest on many folk music programs.
In 1998 Gabi left the group and Bianca App was added. Finally, in 2000, founding member Thomas Rothfuß left the group to start a solo career. His place was taken by Michael Kastel. In 2003 Claudia left the shepherds . Carla Scheithe came for them, so that the formation reached its current members. The group has released a new album almost every year since 1991 and is always a welcome guest on radio and television.
On May 17, 2007, the group won the German preliminary decision for the Grand Prix of Folk Music 2007 with their song Das alles hat uns Gott vor uns . The shepherds represented Germany along with three other performers at the international event on August 25th in Vienna.
