Christine Schmid

Christine Schmid (* 1969 in Basel ) is a singer and accordionist from northwestern Switzerland . It is active in the border triangle between Switzerland, France and Germany.

Life

Christine Schmid grew up in Rheinfelden , where she also graduated from high school. She learned to play the accordion at the age of three and has had various solo appearances since 1985, initially as an accordionist. She studied economics at the University of Lausanne in French up to a diploma. From 1991 she deepened her musical training in singing at the opera workshop at the Basel Conservatory . She then continued her training in singing and piano at the Basel Jazz School , studied modern accordion style with Hans Günther Kölz at the Hohner Conservatory in Trossingen from 1995 to 1997 and attended the Jazz Variety School in Paris in 1998 .

She trained her voice in the classic bel canto subject in Italy with Alfredo Zanazzo , Andrea Bocelli's teacher . She made her debut in Italy as a soprano in the leading role in Aida and Tosca and presents her opera, operetta and musical repertoire with various orchestras and pianists. In addition to music, Christine Schmid also worked as a model (including for Tissot, Edeka and Quelle), mannequin and actress. B. as Bettina in the film " Sophie and the Song of Songs ".

After excursions into the entertaining subject and television appearances with the group Die Schäfer in the show Fröhlicher everyday life of the Südwestrundfunk , concerts at the New Orleans Jazz Festival and as Marlene Dietrich in the musical Edith Piaf followed . In the SWR telecast coffee or tea from 31 March 2017 she had a television appearance with presentation of their new CD Paris-Berlin . This contains classic French chansons that she has translated into German.

Schmid appears as a soloist with vocals and accordion with her French / German chanson and tango repertoire, has her own 30s revue with the pianist Florian Metz and a gypsy program in a duo with the guitar virtuoso Gaetano Siino .

In addition to music, she works as a speech and communication trainer and makes moderations and presentations.
