Meri Voskanian (* 9. December 1987 as Meri Voskanian in Yerevan ) is one of Armenia originated in Germany living pop singer . She was the background singer for Helene Fischer .

Maria Voskania is the oldest of four sisters. Your father is an engineer. She made her first appearances at the age of five in the children's band of the city radio in Yerevan. In 1995 her family moved with her to Germany. Here her parents made it possible for her to take classical piano lessons. She grew up in Wasserlosen in the district of Schweinfurt and attended the linguistically, humanistically and musically oriented Celtis grammar school in Schweinfurt . There she had the opportunity to sing along in choirs, play keyboards in bands and perform with a jazz / soul band, the Celtis Big Band.

In 2003 Voskania applied to the TV show Popstars and got through to the third round of casting . In 2005 she applied for the casting of the third season of the RTL show Deutschland sucht den Superstar . In the end, she finished 12th out of 14,000 participants. In 2007 Voskania took part in the Armenian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki and took second place out of 19 candidates.

Even before she graduated from high school in 2008, she composed songs in her own home studio, and her first self-written R&B / soul album in German was released during this time. Pre-produced by her father, a record label could be found with this material, which brought the album into distribution. However, there was no commercial success.

In 2009 the band Heart Rate started a campaign with Voskania and the song Love on Ice , which among other things supported the project against alcohol and drug abuse "HaLT - Hart am Limit". The then Federal Drug Commissioner Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler also welcomed the collaboration. In February 2010 Voskania was a candidate for Our Star for Oslo . In the first decision show she reached the next round with the title Release Me by singer Agnes Carlsson . There they joined with If I Is not Got You by Alicia Keys on and retired.

In 2009 she sent a demo tape to Helene Fischer and was invited to rehearsals a year later. Voskania became an integral part of the live band's choir. Then she accompanied Fischer on her tours, shows and TV appearances. In the Helene Fischer Show at the end of 2014, Fischer brought her to the front of the stage and tuned Voskania's song What do you know about love .

In 2011 Voskania contributed the vocals for the songs La Vida Es and Dead or Alive on DJ BoBo's studio album Dancing Las Vegas . In 2014 she published her first hit album as a solo artist, entitled Lust am Leben . In 2017 she took part again in Deutschland sucht den Superstar and took third place.
