Buddy , actually Sebastian Erl , is a Cologne musician .

Career

As a trained gas and water plumber , he started to work after completing his training and also worked with friends in the recording studio. He developed more and more into a singer and lyricist.

In 2000 the song Ab to the South was released under his pseudonym . The song also convinced a record company, but at the time it was not yet successful.

It was only through Austria that it became a hit. The Austrian DJ The Wave became aware of the song on the Internet and kept it on in major Austrian discos. Eventually it became a summer hit on radio station Ö3 , and when the single was released again in June 2003, it climbed to number 1 within two weeks , where it stayed for 12 weeks. In Germany, too, it went up to second place shortly afterwards. The song was awarded a gold record in Germany . In Austria it was declared the most commercially successful song of the year at the end of 2003 and was awarded double platinum.

In addition, Buddy vs. DJ The Wave wrote the song Ab in den Norden , in which the text of the original Ab in the south was slightly modified.

The German-Austrian connection did not last long. In winter there was a ski party version of the hit called Off to the Piste , which Buddy published alone.

In 2005 he still supported Urbi & Orbi in their song about the election of the Pope before his debut album was released and the single Mama Mallorca was able to return to the charts.
