Olaf Malolepski (born March 27, 1946 in Magdeburg ) is a German pop singer . He became known as a member of the group Die Flippers . Since the Flippers disbanded in April 2011, he has appeared as a solo artist under the name Olaf der Flipper .

Private life

Olaf Malolepski was born in Magdeburg in 1946 and moved to Pforzheim with his mother in 1958 . His mother worked as a hairdresser in the barber shop in Karlsruhe. In 1963 he completed his training as a toolmaker . In 1971 he married Uwe Erhardt's sister from the group Die Schäfer . In 1974 his son was born, in 1982 his daughter, who is also a singer and performs under the stage name Pia Malo . He has lived in the Bretten district of Diedelsheim since the early 1970s .

Career with the flippers

From 1960 Malolepski had appearances with various bands; In 1967 he became a member of the Dancing Show Band. In 1969 the band renamed itself The Flippers ; In the same year they did not succeed with wines, little Eva their first big hit. In 1970 her first long-playing record was released with the title Die Flippers . From 1972 it was quiet about the flippers; During this time Malolepski worked as a music teacher and tennis trainer at TC Wolfsberg Pforzheim . In Karlsruhe he studied classical guitar, music history and harmony. From 1986 until its dissolution in 2011, the Flippers were represented 19 times in the top 10 of the German album charts .

Career as a solo artist

In 1973 Malolepski released two singles and in 1974 one single, each under the pseudonym Christian Peters. In 2011 Malolepski began a second solo career after the Flippers broke up. It was followed by his single Thousand Red Roses . It had its television premiere on October 15, 2011 at the autumn festival of adventures with Florian Silbereisen . His solo debut album Tausend Rote Rosen was released the day before , which made it into the German, Austrian and Swiss charts. The album was awarded gold. On October 12, 2012, his second album was released when the anchor falls . The album reached number 10 in Germany and number 15 in Austria.

In September 2013 a Christmas album was released with the title Yes, it's Christmas today . In February 2014, Ich mach's wie die Sonnenuhr was released, the first single from the album of the same name, which was released on March 21, 2014 and hit the German, Austrian and Swiss charts. On the occasion of his 70th birthday, a new double album was released on March 25, 2016, You are like champagne - only the best for the anniversary . It reached number six in the German charts and was also able to place in Austria and Switzerland. He went on tour for this album in January and February 2017. In April 2017 he confirmed the move to the record label Telamo . The album thumbs up was released on August 11, 2017. It reached number four in the German charts, its most successful chart position to date. In December 2018 Olaf Malolepski became a member of the charity project Schlagerstars für Kinder and recorded the song "Auf once" with the group. The campaign by Schlagerplanet Radio and the SOS Children's Villages collects money for children in need with the Christmas song.
