Ah, Herr Dokter! - The Heinz Becker film is a German comedy film from 1999. It is based on the character Heinz Becker, designed and played by Gerd Dudenhöffer , and the accompanying TV series .

action

Next to the home of Heinz and Hilde Becker is the villa of the company's boss Dr. Bernhard Schenkberg and his wife, whom he called "Püppchen". While Schenkberg always tries politely to be good neighborly, his arrogant wife looks down contemptuously on the grumpy, constantly DIY Heinz and the honest, naive housewife Hilde. The young secretary Mrs. Rickebick, who has a fuss with the clumsy doctor, applies under a false name and disguised as a cleaning lady in the Schenkberg house and, to the horror of the host, is hired by his wife. Together with his friend, "Maier Kurt", Heinz builds a terrace on his house, whereby - due to the strange manual skills of the two men - there are some technical complications. Ms. Schenkberg is indignant about the noise caused by the construction work, but finds no help from her tolerant husband.

Dr. Schenkberg is celebrating his 60th birthday with a glamorous garden party to which the Beckers are also invited. Heinz installs a chain of lights for the party, Hilde prepares the dessert. At the party, Heinz annoyed the genteel company with his sayings. Ms. Rickebick is assigned to serve as a domestic servant by the landlady, but also has to work as Dr. Schenkberg's secretary will be present at the party. She solves this dilemma by constantly changing clothes and alternately appearing in both functions. Later, the Beckers invite the Schenkbergs to a rustic barbecue evening on their new terrace. The morning after, Ms. Schenkberg is horrified to find that her husband and Heinz Becker, who seem to get along well, are on the terms of each other.

criticism

The reviews were largely negative:

"Shell comedy that tries unsuccessfully to transfer the anarchic joke of the cabaret television character to the big screen and with the worn juxtaposition of 'rich' and 'poor' only conveys clichés, puns and twisted words."

"[...] disappointing. The fat high-earner (Horst Krause), his piquant wife and the squeaky secretary seem to have sprung from the joke page of the 'Quick', and that Mr Doctor's secretary smuggles into the house to constantly change clothes at her beloved boss' party, that is a pick in the clothes box of the German economic miracle cinema. "

“What works well as a cabaret show for a good half an hour, unfortunately doesn't work so well in the length of a feature film. Nevertheless: fans of the man will get their money's worth again, even if you already know some of his jokes. "

"[...] what was still an absolute laugh hit on television turned out to be far too lengthy in the cinema. From an hour on, the belligerent head of the family begins to annoy not only his neighbors, but also the poor spectators. [...] 90 minutes of tortured sitcom. "
