Heinz Becker (stage figure)
Heinz Becker has been a stage and film character of the cabaret artist and writer Gerd Dudenhöffer since 1982 .
Basic idea of the figure
Heinz Becker lives with his wife Hilde and son Stefan in their own house in Bexbach in the Saarland . His person can be described as a beer drinker , passionate do-it-yourselfer (in this capacity probably more of a dilettante ), know-it-all , complainer , philistine , club boss , regular guest in the corner room and friend of Maier Kurt . Its special distinguishing mark is a Batschkapp , without which you can never see it. An often-quoted joke is the discussion about the handle of the lawnmower. Becker often complains about the waste of taxes in which, for example, he comments on discussions with “And we have to pay it”.

Gerd Dudenhöffer developed the character from 1982 initially exclusively in his stage programs . He first received a lot of attention through the production and broadcast of the Heinz Becker family television series , which was shown in Erste from 1992 and also included the characters of his wife Hilde and son Stefan . The series was shot and broadcast from 1991 to 2003 in co-production between WDR and SR in seven seasons of six episodes. Every year on the Christmas days, the episode All Years from Season 3 (1994) is shown on various channels.
In 1999 Dudenhöffer realized with Tach, Mr. Dokter! the Heinz Becker film.
Parallel to the broadcast of the television series and also afterwards, Dudenhöffer alias Heinz Becker was and is on tour with his current solo program. However, he has not performed in Saarland since 1998. The reason for this is a public controversy from that year, in which the question was whether the stage figure would damage the image of the Saarland.
Litigation
After Alice Hoffmann left the series, she started her own stage program as Vanessa Backes . In Dudenhöffer's opinion, her ex-husband, often mentioned here, is too reminiscent of Heinz Becker, which is why Dudenhöffer had Alice Hoffmann and Gerhard Bungert , the author of her solo program, warned. Bungert, who denies any similarities between Heinz Becker and Vanessa Backes' ex-husband, then sued Gerd Dudenhöffer and claimed that he played a major role in the development of the Heinz Becker figure. He demanded both a financial share in the success of the character and a mention in the credits as well as a say and veto right in the script. Bungert referred to the book Die Heinz-Becker-Story published jointly by Dudenhöffer and Bungert (and Charly Lehnert ) in 1984 . In contrast, Dudenhöffer saw himself as the sole inventor of the figure of Heinz Becker.
