Gerhard Bungert (born November 11, 1948 in Spiesen, today Spiesen-Elversberg ) is a German writer, journalist and presenter.

Life

Gerhard Bungert passed his Abitur at the State Realgymnasium in Neunkirchen (Saar) . He then studied cultural studies, sociology and psychology at the Philosophical Faculty of Saarland University in Saarbrücken . After completing his studies, Bungert was a local reporter for the Saarbrücker Zeitung and a musician at the Saarland State Theater. He has been working as a freelance publicist since the mid-1970s. From 1988 to 1995 he was artistic director of the “Kulturforum Saarbrücker Schloss”, which presented cultural events. At the beginning of the nineties, Bungert and Charly Lehnert, an author and publisher from Saarbrücken, founded the "Wintringer Hof media center" with the services of media advice, communication training and artist placement.

Bungert's first marriage was to actress Alice Hoffmann , with whom he had a daughter. He is married to Roswitha Jülicher in his second marriage. Bungert lives and works in the south of France and Gran Canaria .

Literary and journalistic work

Gerhard Bungert wrote books and texts that mainly describe Saarland history and the lifestyle of the Saarland population. In total, he published more than 40 monographs with a total print run of almost 500,000 copies. As a freelance author and presenter, he worked for the Saarländischer Rundfunk in the radio and television sectors. He wrote numerous glosses and skits, reports and features, but also several dozen radio plays. He also wrote pieces for the Hessischer and Südwestrundfunk . He also published nine plays and wrote texts for Saarland songwriters . From 1980 to 2000 he gave several hundred dialect lectures with the title "Typisch Saarländisch". Bungert has also made a name for himself as a publisher of anthologies .
One of his main topics is the Saarland dialect , the peculiarities and characteristics of which he devotes himself to in numerous publications. In addition, he deals with regional history, Saarland cuisine and other set pieces of Saarland identity. Bungert is considered to be a co-founder of the Saarland identity. Among others he wrote texts for Fritz and Gerdi Weissenbach, Manfred Sexauer and Ilona Kleitz (later "Christians"), Peter Maronde , Jan Hofer , Alice Hoffmann (Vanessa Backes and Hilde Becker) and Gerd Dudenhöffer ( Heinz Becker ). In 1985, Gerhard Bungert and
Charly Lehnert led the state election campaign for Oskar Lafontaine in Saarland, in which the SPD obtained an absolute majority from the opposition. Both had similar tasks in mayor and state elections in Saarland , Rhineland-Palatinate , Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia .
