Bernd Kissel (born May 24, 1978 in Saarbrücken ) is a German draftsman , qualified cartoonist and graphic artist .

Life

Bernd Kissel grew up in the Berus district of the Saarland community of Überherrn . From 1985 to 1989 he attended elementary school in Berus, after which he switched to the Max Planck Gymnasium in Saarlouis , where he graduated from high school in 1997. Subsequently, from 1998 to 2000 he completed an apprenticeship as an animator at the Lycée Technique des Arts et Métiers in Luxembourg , which he successfully completed with the BTS animation diploma.

Kissel is married, he lives as a freelance artist and graphic designer in Überherrn-Berus.

Professional background

After his professional training, Bernd Kissel worked from 2000 to 2007 as a background and prop designer on various projects:

  • "T'choupi" (Les Armateurs)
  • "Kenny The Shark" (Phase 4)
  • "Strawberry Shortcake" (German: " Strawberry Shortcake ")
  • "Horseland" (German: "Horseland - The horse ranch")

From 2007 to 2009 Kissel produced, among other things, over 100 episodes of the comic series "Saar Legenden", which appeared in the Saarbrücker Zeitung . Until the end of 2011, Kissel produced the comic series “Saarland Album”, which was also published in the Saarbrücker Zeitung on a weekly basis and in autumn 2015 received its own adaptation with Langhals & Dickkopp in the leading roles. In spring 2012, Kissel wrote and drew the online crime thriller “Tödliches Wolfsrudel” for ZDF.de. The comic is the continuation of the successful television film "Murderous Wasp's Nest". The last episode was posted on April 16, 2012 a few hours before the broadcast of the second provincial thriller "Death of a carrier pigeon" and thus served as a transition to the second TV film about the quirky private detective Finn Zehender (Hinnerk Schönemann). After that, Kissel wrote and drew another Finn Zehender comic book thriller entitled "Tödlicher Windhauch". In 2016, Kissel drew the graphic novel “Münchhausen - The Truth About Lies” written by Flix , which was published by Carlsen Verlag . She won the " Rudolph Dirks Award " 2016 for "Best literary adaptation".
