The Providenciales International Airport ( ICAO code : MBPV , IATA code : PLS ) on the island of Providenciales , the main international airport in the Turks and Caicos Islands , belonging to the British overseas territories belong. It is operated by the Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA). The nearest international airport is JAGS McCartney International Airport on Grand Turk Island .

Location and infrastructure

The airport is 8.5 meters above sea level . It has a 2804 m long and 45 m wide asphalt runway in an east-west direction.

From 2010 to 2014 the airport was expanded in two phases. From 2010 to 2011, the runway was extended from 2,317 m to its current dimensions and the space for aircraft was expanded. The terminal was expanded from 2013 to 2014. The renovated airport was reopened on December 29, 2014. The total cost of the renovation was around $ 50 million.
