The JAGS McCartney International Airport (also Grand Turk International ) is after the Providenciales is the second largest airport in the British overseas territory Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean . It is located on the island of Grand Turk , a good three kilometers south of the capital, Cockburn Town .
The airport has a 1941 meter long asphalt runway. It was named after James Alexander George Smith McCartney , the first chief minister of the overseas territory. McCartney was killed in a plane crash in 1980.
Only national destinations, including Providenciales , are served from the airport by InterCaribbean Airways and Caicos Express Airways .
