Cockburn Town ([ˈkoʊbərn taʊn]) is the de facto capital of the British overseas territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands . It is located on Grand Turk Island , the largest of the Turks Islands . The city was in 1681 by salt collectors of Bermuda established and is since 1766 the capital of the territory.

Today (July 2016) the city has about 3720 inhabitants.

Cockburn Town is characterized by numerous colonial buildings, including the National Museum and the Post Office.
