Theodor von Haering

Johann Theodor Haering , from 1905 by Haering , (born April 22, 1848 in Stuttgart , † March 11, 1928 in Tübingen ) was a German, Protestant theologian .

Life

Haering first attended the Evangelical-theological seminar in the Urach Abbey from 1862 to 1866 , then until 1870 the Tübingen Abbey . After the vicariate in 1873 he became a repetitionist at the Tübingen monastery. From 1876 to 1881 he worked as a deacon in Calw , from 1881 to 1855 as the parish priest at the hospital and collegiate church in Stuttgart.

In 1886 Haering became professor of theology at the University of Zurich , in 1889 he followed a call to the chair for theology, New Testament and systematics at the University of Göttingen . During this time he was a secular member of the Harz district at the Hanoverian regional synod in 1893. In 1894 he accepted an appointment at the University of Tübingen , where he became a full professor of theology for dogmatics, ethics and New Testament exegesis. He stayed there until his retirement in 1912 and was rector of the university from 1904 to 1905 and was Ephorus of the Tübingen monastery.

In 1900 Haering was a member of the 6th regional synod of the Württemberg regional church for the Brackenheim district , in 1906 as vice-president at the 7th regional synod for the Calw district and in 1912 at the 8th regional synod for Brackenheim. From 1907 to 1919 he held the office of vice-president of the regional synod, in 1912 and 1913 he was also interim president and thereby a member of the Württemberg estates .

Hearing died of a heart attack in 1928 . Haering was married to Emma Chevalier (1856-1937). His children include the philosopher Theodor Haering and the historian Hermann Haering .
