life and career

Tori Spelling (2009)

Tori Spelling was born on May 16, 1973 in Los Angeles and grew up in Beverly Hills . She is the older of two children and the only daughter of the late television producer Aaron Spelling and his wife Candy. Her brother is the actor Randy Spelling . Her godparents were the late actors Dean Martin and Barbara Stanwyck .

Spelling wanted to be an actress even as a child and at the age of seven got her first role in the television series Vega $ (1981), which was produced by her father. This was followed by other guest appearances in television productions by Aaron Spelling such as Fantasy Island , Hotel , The Love Boat and TJ Hooker . In the series California High School she played in a recurring role and won the Young Artist Award for it .

In addition to high school , Tori took acting lessons from a private teacher. She graduated from Harvard Westlake School in Los Angeles.

In 1990, Spelling learned that her father was working with Darren Star to produce a new television series featuring the life of a Beverly Hills high school clique. In order not to receive preferential treatment as the producer's daughter, Tori auditioned under an assumed name for the role of Kelly Taylor . The role finally went to Jennie Garth , but the role of Donna Martin was written into the script for Tori at her father's instigation . Beverly Hills, 90210 soon became a worldwide cult series and Spelling and her series colleagues rose to international series stars.

In parallel with her work on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210 , Tori also took on film roles. In 1994 she played one of the leading roles in the film Death of a Cheerleader , which is based on a true story: Spelling played the role of 15-year-old Kirsten Costas (film name "Stacy Lockwood"), who was stabbed to death in 1984 by a classmate. Films like The House of Yes and Scream 2 (both 1997) and Trick (1999) followed.

In 2000, Beverly Hills ran out of 90210 after a total of 296 episodes, of which Spelling had starred in 292. From 2009 she played her old role as Donna Martin in guest appearances on the new edition of Beverly Hills , 90210 .

In her autobiography sTORI Telling , published in 2008, Spelling tells of her privileged childhood, the difficult beginning of her acting career and the complicated relationship with her mother Candy. Mommywood , which appeared the following year, tells anecdotes about her new role as a mother.

In 2004, Tori Spelling married actor Charlie Shanian . After Spelling and her film partner Dean McDermott fell in love on the set of Mind Over Murder , Shanian filed for divorce in mid-October 2005. McDermott and Spelling were married two weeks after their divorce in May 2006. Together they have five children, three sons (* 2007, 2012 and 2017) and two daughters (* 2008 and 2011).
