Who's Afraid of Jackie-O.? ( The House of Yes ) is an American comedy film directed by Mark Waters from 1997. The plot is based on the play "The House of Yes" by Wendy MacLeod .

action

Marty Pascal studies in New York City in 1983 . He is engaged to the waitress Lesly.

Marty takes his fiancée with him when he visits his family in Washington DC for Thanksgiving . There Lesly meets his twin sister Jackie, who is fascinated by the former US First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis . Jackie mocks Lesly by asking her about her home state of Pennsylvania . She asks questions such as whether there are paintings in Pennsylvania. Jackie then becomes hysterical when the ice cubes for the drinks run out.

The electric light fails, candles are lit. Jackie and Marty's mother goes to sleep. She says she can anticipate where the conversation will lead.

It turns out that Marty and Jackie have had an incestuous relationship in the past . Jackie thinks incest is normal and wants to renew the relationship. Jackie and Marty make love in the presence of Lesly.

Reviews

James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the comedy was "black" and "occasionally disturbing", yet it was "funny". Berardinelli praised the performances by Josh Hamilton, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Tori Spelling.

Roger Ebert praised the “clever” and “concise” dialogues and the portrayal of Parker Posey in the Chicago Sun-Times of October 17, 1997.
