Geneviève Bujold
Geneviève Bujold ( Engl. : [ Ʒənvjɛv byʒɔld ] * 1. July 1942 in Montreal ) is a French-Canadian actress , the French Canadian , ( accent -free) Standard French and English speaking and in these languages in the US, French and Francophone / Canadian Filming occurs.
Life
After twelve years of strict education in a Catholic convent , she attended the Conservatoire d'art dramatique de Montréal . Her acting training was classically French. Then she went to Paris with a theater company, where she was discovered for the film.
Bujold was married to the film director Paul Almond from 1967 to 1973 . She has a son with him (Matthew Almond).
Career
Bujold made her film debut in René Bonnière 's first longer film Amanita Pestilens (1963). In the 1960s she first celebrated success in French-language cinema; it has been featured several times by the Canadian director and cameraman Michel Brault , a founder of the Cinéma Vérité , and shot in France under Alain Resnais (The War is Over), Philippe de Broca ( King of Hearts ) and Louis Malle (The Thief of Paris) . With the Hollywood production Queen for a Thousand Days (1969) she earned a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar nomination for the title role of Anne Boleyn . In 1971 she was sued by the studio for $ 750,000 in damages after withdrawing her commitment to Mary Queen of Scots . In 1974 she appeared in the disaster film Earthquake . A year later she cast de Broca alongside Jean-Paul Belmondo in The Despicable One . In 1976 she appeared in Brian De Palma's Black Angel and alongside Jack Lemmon in Love and Other Crimes . In 1977 she acted in Another Man - Another Woman by Claude Lelouch .
She played classic female title roles in stage literature in theatrical productions that were recorded for television, for example in 1967 for the NBC station Saint Joan in George Bernard Shaw 's play of the same name, in 1974 on Broadway in Jean Anouilh's adaptation of the Greek tragedy Antigone and in 1976 Cleopatra in Shaws Caesar and Cleopatra .
