Manon Briand

Manon Briand (* 1964 in Baie-Comeau , Québec ) is a Canadian film director and screenwriter .

Life and accomplishments

Briand grew up in the town of Baie-Comeau. From 1981 she learned graphic design at the Cégep in Montreal . She studied film at Concordia University . In 1987 she started as a screenwriter. She wrote and directed several short films. Her work has attracted attention at various award ceremonies, for example she won the 1992 Toronto International Film Festival for Les Sauf-conduits as best Canadian short film. In 1998 she was awarded for 2 secondes in four categories at the World Film Festival .

Briand's best-known film is the love drama La Turbulence des fluides (2002) with Pascale Bussières in the leading role. In 2002 she received the audience award for best Canadian feature film at the World Film Festival . In 2003 she was awarded a special prize for this film at the Prix ​​Jutras .
