Forever Yours is a Canadian drama by Michael McGowan, who appears here as director , screenwriter and producer. The plot is based on a true story. A Canadian farmer has to deal with building regulations in his old days and is visibly overwhelmed. After One Week in 2008, McGowan created another social drama set in Canada.

action

Elderly Canadian couple Irene and Craig Morrison had an exemplary marriage. Both are always there for each other, even if there are problems. Irene's first serious health impairments become noticeable, suggesting dementia . Another problem: The old house where the two of them raised their seven children has defects that make life uncomfortable. So Craig decides, despite his old age of 88, to build a new house - smaller and more practical. Sufficient land is available to him. He has also acquired a lot of specialist knowledge in his professional life. Unfortunately, he now has to deal with the building supervisory authority. The state building regulations are a horror to him, and the resulting fees are a burden on his budget. So he defiantly ignores a construction cessation order, for which he later has to answer in court.

Fortunately, the process ends without jail time, which could be due to Irene's deterioration in condition, with which Craig justified his violation, among other things. Because of a bone fracture , Irene is now also unable to walk. After Irene's discharge from hospital, the Morrisons can finally move into their new home, which Craig completed while Irene was away.

background

The film was shot on the east coast of Canada ( Bay of Fundy ) and inland ( Ontario ). $ 3.2 million was available for production. The film premiered on September 10, 2012 at the Toronto International Film Festival , then still with the title Still . Worldwide revenues are estimated at around 1.16 million US dollars.

Chester's funeral was accompanied by the song After the Storm by the British band Mumford & Sons .

The real existing Craig Morrison needed three years to build his barrier-free bungalow in St. Martins. Irene Morrison passed away in 2013 - six months after her husband - in a nursing home in Hampton , 30 km north of her home.

Awards
